Weight Loss Course Information

Accommodation at our weight loss boot camp

When you get back to your room after a day’s exercising, you’ll appreciate the warmth and comfort of our accommodation.

You can join our weight loss boot camp either at our luxury country house in Exmoor, in the south west of England, at our hotel base in Snowdonia, or in our beautifully converted barn complex in the Dordogne, France.

At all locations we have a selection of single or twin rooms – ideal for friends sharing, couples or perhaps a mother and daughter break.  All rooms at our Exmoor and Snowdon location are en suite with either bath or shower.  The rooms at our Dordogne location offer a shared bathroom arrangement.

Nutrition is an integral part of our weight loss boot camp.  We will be dispelling the myths around food fads and showing you how to achieve a healthy diet to help you reach your weight goals.

During your stay you will experience gourmet meals created by Dan our chef, who has worked at several Michelin-stared restaurants.  All your meals will be based on the principles of nutritional science. The menus have been designed, in conjunction with the full exercise programme, to result in sustainable fat loss, an increase in resting metabolic rate and a reduction in your measurements.

Although you’re at a weight loss boot camp, you will enjoy three meals a day, plus snacks.  You won’t feel hungry and you may even find yourself eating more during the day than you normally do at home.

One week that will change your life.  The programme

BaseCamp operates premium weight-loss and fitness training courses for women and men, where we work with you to get you slimmer, more toned and fitter in a week. But just as important, a week with us will give you the tools and the motivation to maintain your new figure and lead a healthier lifestyle when you return home.

Before you arrive at BaseCamp you will have received a food diary which we ask you to complete will a typical week’s intake of food and drink.  We’ll analyse your current eating habits and nutrition and use this information as part of your assessment that you will undertake on arrival with the course director.

We’ll also measure your blood pressure, girth measurements, lung function and fitness level and use this information as a benchmark against which to check your achievements at the end of the week.  You’ll be working with a heart rate monitor for the duration of the course which enables us to accurately monitor your progress.

During your week with us our qualified and professional training and nutrition team will take you through safe fat-burning and fitness training courses.  You’ll get the chance to try a range of different activities.

Typical Daily Itinerary

A typical BaseCamp day starts with an early 6.45am wake-up call. Thirty minutes, later you’ll be in the dining room helping yourself to various pieces of fruit and hot drinks.

7.15am

You’ll be allocated your heart rate monitor and begin with a warm-up of brisk walking and slow jogging followed by short sets of callisthenic exercises such as press-ups, burpees and stomach crunches.

7.45am

Breakfast is served - and you’ll be able to choose from a selection of breakfast cereal, toast and fruit and variety of drinks to top up your hydration levels.

8.15am

After breakfast you’ll join your particular group to start the morning’s main activities, for example: a two-hour coastal hill walk, where you’ll raise your heart rate and burn body fat under the supervision of the trainers, whilst enjoying the breathtaking scenery.

10.15am

Refreshment break.

10.30am

A one hour circuit training class, where you’ll use your body weight to complete differentcallisthenic exercises and non-contact boxing training. Under the tuition of the trainers you’ll learn the proper and most effective techniques to tone up the muscles and increase your metabolic rate.

11.30am

Each day short seminars are held to give you an insight into how the body responds to exercise and how proper nutrition can improve your performance. Topics will also include realistic goal setting, motivations and rewards and training cycles. The seminars are also scheduled to reinforce the physical activities you’ll undertake during your week at our weight loss and fitness training courses.

12.30pm

Lunch: After a morning of strenuous activity you’ll sit down to a tasty lunch designed to refuel your muscles and rehydrate you, ready for the afternoon’s activities. If the weathers fine, your lunch can be enjoyed alfresco.  You’ll also have the opportunity to check your phone messages or make a call if you need to.

1.30pm

Mountain biking: Specific activities such as mountain biking, abseiling or sea kayaking are preceded by a mandatory safety briefing. Once that’s out the way you’ll explore the myriad of cycle paths that cover Exmoor or the Dordogne. You’ll be working hard and burning lots of calories but you’ll still have time to enjoy your surroundings during the regular refreshment breaks.

4.30pm

Team activities are held each day. These may include tug-of-war or assault courses, or may be a more cerebral activity such as problem solving.

6.00pm

Dinner: Here’s your chance to sample the chef’s specialities. Our menu includes tasty meals containing all the right proportions from the various food groups. Crucially, it will provide your body with all the nutrients required to aid your aching muscles during their recovery phase.

7:00pm

The day’s activities finish where we started, with more circuits. This time the intensity is lower and will contain plenty of relaxing stretching exercises. At the end of the session, and once your heart rate monitors are handed back to the trainers for downloading, you’ll have time to relax and chat with other BaseCamp members. We advise you to enjoy your room’s en-suite facilities and take an invigorating shower and an early night, because tomorrow it starts all over again

The location of our boot camp fitness training

Our weight loss courses are held on Exmoor, in Snowdonia and in the Dordogne, France.

Exmoor

Our Exmoor location is based in a luxury country house close to the north Devon coast.  This beautiful part of the UK offers us a variety of natural landscapes – all of which we use for our boot camp fitness training.

There are coastal paths along a headland, giving us stunning views across the water to Wales, winding paths through forests, a myriad of cycling paths running along the beach and through meadows and of course we have the beautiful moorlands of Exmoor, where we might catch sight of ponies and deer.

You can either drive to our Exmoor BaseCamp, where we have ample, safe parking or we can pick up from Taunton station if you prefer to take the train.  The journey from Paddington station in London will take approximately one and a half hours.

Snowdonia, Wales

Our BaseCamp is a very comfortable hotel at the foot of Mt Snowdon.  Set in the heart of the beautiful Snowdonia National Park, we use the mountains, lakes, rivers and moorlands as our 'green' gym.  The variety of landscapes allows us to create a varied programme of activities, so you'll never be bored.

We pick you up from Bangor station if you want to travel by train and have ample parking if you decide to drive.

Dordogne, France

In France our boot camp fitness training is based in a five star barn conversation set in the rural Dordogne countryside.  If you have visited this part of France you will know that it is blest with forests, lakes and streams in abundance.  And of course it has a few hills for us to climb.

Our rural hideaway has stunning views across a valley and is located off the normal tourist route.  .

The Dorgogne has become a favourite with the English, not only because of its mild climate, but also because it is easy to reach from the UK with a number or low-cost airlines.  We pick up guests from Bordeaux airport or can arrange car hire for you from Bergerac airport.  Both are about one and a half hours away from our base.

Alternatively you can take the train or drive from the UK.  Do call us and we will give you more details.
